Thank you for your quick response. We don’t have multiple datacenters or offices, so the primary mailbox is local to where all the users and their mailboxes are. I do have the databases with the user mailboxes on one local DAG member and the database with the PF on another DAG member, but this shouldn’t matter should it? It does make sense to have an empty primary mailbox, I don’t know why Microsoft doesn’t mention that or recommend it. Our public folders are used heavily and maybe the primary is too busy serving up content at times. What do you mean by highly available? If you just mean HA then I have that covered, although when I’ve activated the passive database hosting the public folders on the other server it seems to hose everybody’s Outlook client.
